According to WNBC (of all places) one of their own, Jay DeDapper was mugged outside of a pizza place in the West Village last night. Now, while I’m familiar with his name, I can’t say that I’d be able to pick him out of a line up.
My question is, did the teens who beat him up have a vendetta against this poor little guy or did he just look like an easy target?
[UPDATE]
Jay DeDapper speaks!
Did they get anything from you?
No. They didn’t mention they were robbing me until I was on the ground and they were kicking my head. At that point my only response was to cover my head, kick back and yell for help.
Where did this happen, exactly?
On Barrow Street near the corner of Bedford.
Why did you fight back?
I didn’t know what was happening and I didn’t know after the first guy swung around a blindsided me with a punch to the temple that two others were about to jump me. I didn’t think. I reacted. Had I thought about it or known what was coming I probably would have asked them if they wanted my money. I’m not the type to try and take on three guys at once armed only with a slice of pizza.
Where did you get your slice of pizza from?
Bleecker Street Pizzeria. The “Nona Maria.” It was a good slice — what I had of it.
