The Empire State Building, Brought to You by Color Me Badd
If you’re anything like me, you have little to no idea why the Empire State Building is lit in a particular hue on a particular day, outside of your major holidays (or on the occasion the Mets win a subway series). The purple and yellow lights on February 11th and 12th weren’t in celebration of McDonald’s own purple monster Grimace? It was for the Westminster Kennel Club’s 132nd Annual All Breed Dog Show? No shit!
Sure, you could go to the Empire State Building’s official website to check the lighting schedule, but they only display about two weeks worth of lighting information at any given time.
While this may seem adequate, once you’ve seen What Color is the Empire State Building? there is no turning back. Why read a description of the lights when you can view them in all their tri-colored glory. If you’re a Mac user, you can even download a handy dashboard widget, enabling you to become the defacto expert on Empire State Building lighting in your office.
Never feel emasculated by the Empire State Building lights again. Take that, American Heart Association, Go Red for Women Luncheon!
